🔥 Alas, discipline is usually the first thing to go when yoga gets passed along too quickly and without the backing of lineage or a deep personal commitment to the method. It's more common than not these days, so we just have to recognize it, educate a bit, and keep this torch burning!!

Something strange yet unsurprising has happened as yoga asana practice has gotten commoditized and commercialized. And as the yoga teacher training market has made it nearly impossible for a traditional lineage to persist...

What you see out there called "yoga" has all but lost its basic principles of stillness, concentration, normal breathing, precision, faith, healing, focus on the spine, and discipline! Yet these are exactly what makes it work.

This used to trouble me to witness, but like my mom said to me once: "You can't ruin the yoga."

I responded: "That's true I guess. The yoga itself can't be messed with. It's just people's understanding that can be totally misinformed." (Not an exact quote: my language wasn't that clean 😂)

Bikram Yoga. It is still here after 50 years in the U.S.!!
